  1. DICT Launches eGovPh Super Apps, eLGU System in Zambales

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) launched the e-Gov and e-LGU mobile applications at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center on September 3, as part of the government's digital transformation initiative. The e-Gov Super App consolidates various government services into a single platform, aiming to streamline processes, reduce queues, cut travel time, and improve efficiency for stakeholders. It also promotes transparency by providing an audit trail of transactions, which helps combat corruption and red tape. The app supports inclusivity by allowing citizens easy access to both local and national government services.

The app features "Green Lanes" that simplify and expedite business transactions, particularly for foreign companies interested in investing in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, in line with the government’s Ease of Doing Business policy. The e-LGU system, part of the e-Gov PH Super App, is designed to create a unified digital system for local government transactions, covering services such as business permits, local civil registry, and community tax collection. This initiative, which is supported by various government officials and agencies, reflects the Administration’s commitment to improving service delivery and transparency through digital transformation.

  1. Tencent Super Apps Helped a Large American Retailer Expand Its Reach Into China

A large American retailer successfully expanded into the Chinese market by partnering with Tencent Cloud, adopting a smart retail strategy focused on super apps and mini programs. The retailer used Tencent Cloud Mall, WeChat, and Tencent Ads to connect with customers, while leveraging TenPay for seamless payments. The strategy included customer engagement across digital and physical channels, driving product purchases through a Weixin mini-mall. A customer data platform (CDP) provided insights to guide data-driven marketing efforts.

Key to this expansion was the integration of the retailer's infrastructure with Tencent’s Super App ecosystem, allowing for a seamless connection between digital services and physical stores. Super Apps, like the one developed for the retailer, are highly efficient, hyper-targeted, and run better on mobile platforms with lower development costs, making them a key trend globally. Through this collaboration, Tencent and the retailer are leading the way in Super App development for retail.
